Social Cognitive Learning theory
Social
Cognitive Learning Theory says people learn from one another by observing
through modeling and people may learn new information without demonstrating new
behavior.
Types of modeling:
Direct Modeling
Modeling from real life of others
Symbolic Modeling
Copying some
parts and modeling
Synthesized Modeling
Taking idea and doing
These
are the steps to follow for a successful learning through modeling.
ATTENTION
Giving attention. Internal mental state is important.
RETENTION
Retaining/storing
the information.
REPRODUCTION
Using the retained information.
MOTIVATION
Giving/attaining
reinforcement and encouragement.

Albert
Bandura’s Bobo doll experiment ( study of aggression ) is a famous experiment
which demonstrates social cognitive learning theory.
“The results for the Bobo Doll
Experiment showed, as expected by prediction one, that children who were
exposed to the aggressive model were more likely to show imitative aggressive
behavior themselves.” (Shuttleworth, 2008)
