Assessment 1

Blog Task 3

Interpretation of my TPI scores

As per my TPI scores; mean is 34.2; SD is ±3.5; scores of  Beliefs, Intentions and Actions of each  perspective is not much varied. It is between 9 and 14. Social Reform Perspective is Recessive and Nurturing Perspective is Dominant.

So, the results indicate that my strength of teaching is that I am able to effectively motivate the learners and develop productive learners according to the capability of the learners.

As a result of the TPI scores I found my strengths and weaknesses which made me well aware of my teaching as a whole.

The five perspectives of TPI (Transmission, Apprenticeship, Developmental, Nurturing and Social Reform) are distinct views of effective teaching.

Transmission
Effective content delivery
Apprenticeship
Developing students’ thinking to  more  complex views
Developmental
Learners thinking & reasoning about the  content
Nurturing
Learners are motivated and productive learners are developed
Social Reform
Changing society by learners

In my opinion, effective teaching depends on the teacher who holds the five perspectives in his/her teaching philosophy. However, perspectives are dominant or recessive according to the strengths and weaknesses of the teaching of the teacher.
